Brakes

Brakes

Stopping....One of those things a lot of us take for granted. We push on the pedal and our car stops, right? Hopefully anyway. But remember, every time we stop, small amounts of brake material is lost, and eventually they do wear out. The last thing you want when driving your vehicle would be to reach for the brakes and have them not function. Scary and dangerous! A thorough brake inspection is the best way to stay informed on the condition and overall health of your brake system. The brake system involves more than just the brake pads. Other items can wear over time and require attention to keep you safe. Brake rotors, calipers, master cylinders, hydraulic hoses, wheel cylinders, all these items can develop problems that if not found, could lead to safety concerns. At Speeds Auto Services, we perform a complete brake inspection with every service we provide. We will also give you a detailed list of any problems we may or may not find, so that you can make an educated decision on how to best maintain your vehicle.

Typical brake service includes

Replacement of the brake pads or shoes, Resurfacing the brake rotors or drums, Cleaning or replacement of any needed hardware, Cleaning and lubrication of caliper slides and other
moving components. The reason you always want to have the rotors or drums resurfaced, is to allow the best possible mating surface between your new brakes and the friction surface. It also ensures the best possible life of your new brakes as well as helping to eliminate noise and vibrations. Feel free to ask any of our service personnel if you have any specific problems or questions regarding your brakes.
