What we do:

Tire air pressure. One of the easiest things to check on your vehicle and also one of those things that commonly get overlooked. Improper air pressure can lead to handling problems such as pulling to one side, bouncy or squishy feel over uneven surfaces and vibrations. Low pressure will also greatly effect your vehicles fuel mileage and will contribute to pre-mature tire wear. Tire pressure should be monitored at every oil change or more frequently if possible. The specification for tire pressure for your vehicle will be listed in your owners manual and in some cases on the sidewall of the tires as well.

Tire wear can be easily be monitored by visual inspection, either on the road or in the air on a service lift. Things to look for are obvious problems such as warping or bulging of side walls, uneven wear patterns and in extreme cases, steel cording exposed through the rubber. Most common is the uneven wear that comes due to lack of rotations, poor air pressure maintenance or alignment issues. This wear will likely appear as worn spots on the inner or outer edges of the tire. depending on the type of problem to the vehicle the nature of the wear will vary. At the first sign of tire wear, have your vehicle's suspension and alignment checked. Its usually less expensive than replacing tires!

Does your steering seem loose? Does your car seem to wander over the road or pull to one side as you drive? Do you seem to go through tires more frequently that other people? Poor vehicle alignment is the likely cause. As you drive and as your car ages, suspension components can wear and become loose. Eventually this play can cause the attitude/angle which your tires run on the pavement to change. When these angles are off, tire wear and poor handling can result. Having the alignment checked at regular intervals can save money on potentially costly tire replacements. Having the alignment checked gives us the opportunity to identify worn or faulty suspension components that ca lead to bigger problems. Proper alignment can maximize tire life as well as enhance your vehicles safety.
